Built for Zero
Built for Zero (BfZ) is a data-driven methodology developed by Community Solutions to change how local homeless response systems work and the impact they can achieve. Over 100 cities and counties are committed to measurably ending homelessness for entire populations and 42 communities have achieved a measurable reduction.
Built for Zero teams work by promoting collaboration and aligning communities to make homelessness rare overall and brief when it occurs. Our teams work closely with a continuum of stakeholders, including individuals with lived experience, policy makers, service providers and community members. Community Solutions recognizes that homelessness is no accident, and highlights racial equity as a core component to rebuild systems which have been designed in inequitable ways.
NMCEH Pilots Built for Zero
Albuquerque & Santa Fe
NMCEH is piloting Built for Zero in Santa Fe and Albuquerque, and aims to reach Functional Zero for community-defined populations, or a state where those facing homelessness are housed at a faster rate than new instances of homelessness develop.

Built for Zero is rooted in real-time quality data. Teams strive to improve and consolidate data from all stakeholders in order to paint an accurate picture of housing rates in our communities by building a By-Name List of all those experiencing homelessness in Santa Fe and Albuquerque.
